1st day: Arrival to Athens airport. After a panoramic tour through the city, transfer to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.

2nd day: ATHENS – EPIDAVROS – NAFPLIO – MYCENAE – SPARTA

Breakfast in the hotel and departure for the region of Argolis. After a short stop at the Corinth Canal, we proceed to the area of Epidavros and visit the famous ancient theater with its perfect acoustics and the museum. Proceeding to Mycenae passing by Nafplio, the first capital of modern Greece. Lunch (not included). Visit of the local Acropolis with the Lions’ Gate. Transfer to Sparta. Dinner and overnight in the hotel.

3rd day: MYSTRAS – MONEMVASSIA – SPARTA

Breakfast in the hotel and departure for a visit to Mystras, a unique example of a Byzantine city. Built and fortified by the Francs, on Mount Taygetos with a very strategic position, it was the last Byzantine capital. Today it is a ghost city, but rich in Byzantine architectural wonders. Then we will proceed to Monemvasia which is situated on a small peninsula. Lunch (not included). In the afternoon visit to the castle built by the Francs that overlooks the Aegean sea. Here you will admire the Byzantine and Venetian spirit of this castle. Visit the church of Saint Sofia (XI century), built on the top of a hill on a rock overlooking the sea. Return to Sparta for dinner and overnight in the hotel.

4th day: SPARTA – MANI – DIROS – KALAMATA

Breakfast in the hotel and departure for the region of Mani. After a journey through steep mountains and big sea gulfs, we will visit the small medieval villages with their famous house-towers. We will enter the cave of Diros, offering picturesque views of stalagmites and stalactites while the group is aboard small boats. Lunch (not included). Before arriving to the city of Kalamata we will have the opportunity to admire the Messinian gulf. Arrival to hotel, dinner, and overnight.

5th day: METHONI – PYLOS – PALACE OF NESTORAS – KALAMATA

Breakfast in the hotel and departure for Methoni and Pylos.Visit the castle of Neokastro, a very beautiful and well-preserved zone of Messinia. Lunch (not included). Visit the “Palace of Nestoras”. This ancient town was second in cultural importance after the town of Mycenae. The excavations have brought to the surface the remains of the ancient Mycenean palace of the 13the century BC which bears the name of King Nestor, known for having participated in the Trojan war. Return to Kalamata. Dinner and overnight in hotel.

6th day: KALAMATA – OLYMPIA – PATRA

Breakfast in the hotel and departure for Olympia. Olympia offers numerous ancient temples, that are well known due to the Olympic games. Also, the ancient stadium, where every 4 years the Olympic Flame is lit, the workshop of the ancient sculptor Fydias, the gymnasium and the museum that is home to many classical works of art. Lunch (not included). Transfer to Patra, where we will visit the church of Saint Andrew. Arrival to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.

7th day: KALAVRITA – AGHIA LAVRA – MEGA SPILEO – CORINTH – ATHENS

Breakfast in the hotel and departure for Diakofto. Once we arrive there we take the small typical train “Odontotos”, that climbs up the mountain of Kalavryta and reaches a height of 800 mt. During the journey, we can admire the impressive landscape dominated by mountain Helmos (2.440 mt), the highest mountain of Peloponnese. At the end of the trip the bus will wait for us to take us directly to the monastery of Ahia Lavra, where, in 1821, the revolution against the Turks began. Lunch (not included). In the afternoon transfer to Mega Spileo Monastery (the “Big Cave”), the construction of which started in 362 a.d. by Saint Simon and Theodore. Return to Athens. Arrival to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.

8th day: ATHENS CITY TOUR – DEPARTURE

Breakfast in the hotel and departure for a visit to Athens. After a panoramic view of the city and all its important and famous monuments, we will proceed to the Athens Acropolis. Lunch (not included). In the afternoon transfer to the airport and departure.
