Tour of Classical Greece and Meteora
Day 1 – Arrival at Athens airport, meeting with our assistant and transfer to the hotel. Accommodation, dinner (optional) and overnight.
Day 2 – Breakfast and departure for the tour of Athens : The panoramic tour of the city passes in front of the main monuments and sites: Constitution Square, Parliament Building, Unknown Soldier, the National Library, Omonia Square, The Panathenaic Stadium, the Olympian Zeus temple, the Hadrian’s Arch.The visit of the Acropolis is the highlight of the tour,as this is the site-symbol of the city of Athens. (lunch is optional). In the afternoon excursion to Cape Sounion, driving along the coast road, where you will visit the temple of the god of the sea, Poseidon. Return to hotel, (dinner optional) and overnight.
Day 3 – Breakfast and departure to the Argolis. Stop at the famous Corinth Canal,where you can take some amazing photos. The tour continues to Epidaurus and its theater, famous for its perfect acoustics and is still used for theatrical performances during the summer. Lunch (optional). Passing from Nafplion, a lovely,picturesque town – the first capital of modern Greece.The visitor will afterwards reach Mycenae, where he will visit the Treasury of Atreus, the Palace, the Lion Gate and the famous Royal Tombs, including what is considered the Tomb of Agamemnon. At the end of the visit, departure to Olympia where the he will arrive in the late afternoon, hotel accommodation, (dinner optional) and overnight.
Day 4 – Breakfast and departure for the excursion at Olympia, ancient sanctuary and seat of the ancient Olympic Games. Visit of the archaeological site with the Sanctuary of Jupiter, the workshop of Phidias, the Stadium and the local museum. Lunch (optional). Afternoon drive to Itea or Delphi. Accomodation in hotel , dinner (optional) and overnight.
Day 5 – Breakfast and departure for Delphi, site of the ancient shrine and oracle of the god Apollo. Visit of the archaeological site with the remains of the sanctuary and the temple of Apollo, the Fountain Castalia and the famous museum. Lunch (optional). The tour will then continue to Kalambaka town, accommodation, dinner (optional) and overnight.
Day 6 – Breakfast and departure for the visit of the famous orthodox monasteries of Meteora, built in the fourteenth century A.D.,on top of huge rocks shaped through the centuries, by geological formations.The spectacular monasteries are rich in valuable evidence of Byzantine art, which was flourishing at that time. Lunch (optional). In the afternoon, departure towards Athens, crossing the plain of Thessaly, known for its cotton plantations. Moving from Thermopylae, site of the famous battle, the visitor will reach Athens. Hotel accommodation, dinner (optional) and overnight.
Day 7 – Breakfast at the hotel. Day at leisure (possibility to join a one day cruise, to the islands of the Saronic Gulf). Lunch and dinner are optional- Overnight in hotel, in Athens.
Day 8 – Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport with our assistant and departure.
